Our Mission
To save lives by helping people learn and retain knowledge more effectively.
The Passion Behind The Mission
From Our CEO:
The EMS world became intensely real for me in 1998. My grandmother, in her late 70s, was involved in a horrific car accident after an improperly placed sign obstructed her view at a stop. A truck, traveling at high speed, collided with her small vehicle.
The accident required a life-flight to Vanderbilt Hospital. At the scene, an unexpected connection emerged: the first responder was my best friend from high school. He and his team had to use the Jaws of Life to extract my grandmother. It was in that moment, while working to save a life, that he recognized the person was someone from his own community, his friend’s grandmother.
I saw the devastating effect of this work on him when he arrived at the hospital. The look on his face showed the immense emotional and mental strain that EMS professionals endure. They rush into life-or-death situations, never knowing whose loved one—whose grandmother, mother, or brother—they will be helping next.
While my grandmother ultimately succumbed to her injuries, it was the heroic and immediate care of that team that gave her a chance. Their professionalism and speed made it possible for her to survive long enough to reach the hospital.
Years later, I was reminded of their dedication when my father suffered a massive heart attack. Despite being in poor health, his sudden cardiac event required an urgent response. My family was struck by how professional and capable the EMS team was, even facing the logistical challenge of moving a large man on a gurney up a challenging, hilly gravel road.
These two defining moments burned a truth into my mind: the day-to-day commitment of emergency medical services is a constant, selfless act. The effort, the emotion, and the continuous mental weight they carry on behalf of strangers are the core of their profession—and they inspire me.
